antigua - the lord nelson
disappointing news... windsurfing at the lord nelson is no more.....
don't know why... so i'm just glad i had the opportunity!

how much closer to the beach can you get?
I spent 2 weeks there in July / August - wonderful! Laid-back Carribean style...The hotel is informal and friendly and I sailed nearly every day. Ok - so once or twice I was cruising on an Equipe with a 7.2 - but it was the low season and it gives an opportunity for a closer look at the turtles!
Other times on a screamer 278 or 268 with a 5.1. Flat water inside the artificial reef with chop/swell building outside.
The hotel is owned and run by the Fuller family and Eli (second to Ken Winner in this year's Hi-Ho) keeps a watchful eye on things and is useful for the odd hint and tip!
The bar/restaurant is right by the waters edge where you can watch the good guys pulling loops off flat water!. Patrick runs the windsurf centre - predominately Mistral boards (screamers - explosions and up) and Tushingham rigs all in good condition Its probably a little choppy for absolute beginners but with Patricks enthusiasm and his beginners kit he'll get you going ok
Snorkelling in the bay is fun - we saw rays and a friendly barracuda
A car is useful to get around (easy to hire at the airport) - the rest of the island is definitely worth a look! Pics to follow but I'm happy to provide any more info if anyone is thinking of going
