SALLY'S COCKPIT FWB Sally J CABIN VIEW

Falmouth Working Boat Sally J

Reluctant Sale

Sally was originally built for racing and day sailing, with a small 2 berth cuddy and large cockpit. She was also fitted out to a much higher standard than usual with two pairs of self-tailing winches, a taller than standard mast, and all stainless deck fittings and standing rigging.

She was sailed for a later part of the 1982 season and the laid up. Her owner, a professional yacht Skipper then got a job driving some large motor yacht in the Med, and didn't come back to Falmouth to re-commision her, so she stayed laid up, in a shed at Falmouth Boat Co. until we bought her in 1992.

Over the following years we spent the winters gradually bringing her up to full cruising standard. Work done included:

As well as many other minor improvements we also gave her a new suit of sails from David Spargo [SKB] of a more sensible size for cruising with her original main she needed reefing in a good force 3! She is basically sound; a recent survey (April 2004) for the insurance found no defects, but she is in need of some TLC and general maintenance.

During the summers we sailed her many thousands of miles around the Solent, France, Brittany, The Channel Island and the West Country and a memorable trip to Scotland.

In 1999 we decided to quit the rat race, and moved to Pembrokeshire, and started to run a wood-turnig bussiness to supplement a meagre pension. This has rather curtailed our sailing, but we have still managed several cruises to North Wales, Ireland and the north coasts of Devon and Cornwall. We are finding that lack of time and money means that we are finding it more and more difficult to give Sally the attention she deserves, and so are reluctantly considering her sale.

Full inventory will be by agreement, but will include all the usual bits and pieces including GPS, VHF, Autohelm, etc. She is currently afloat, in Milford Haven Marina, Pembrokeshire.

Asking Price £30,000.
