Southampton Angelfish are breeders of quality fish. All fish here are bred in our own hatchery and have the benefit of being hatched naturally ( raised by their parents). This should result in a strong strain of fish .
Many of the Angelfish seen for sale now are raised artificially. This may result in a higher yeild of fish , but when mature will probably NOT know how to look after their own fry , but eat them instead!
This is just one of the many Gold Angelfish that are breeding in the hatchery.
ORIGINAL ANGEL STOCK
The project was originally started out of the need to find some reasonable quality Angelfish for a show tank.
The only ones found locally did not
appear to be of that quality.
A trip to Holland was on the cards and this is where the originals were sourced.
All the water used in the hatcery is made up from a mixture of R.O. water and de-chlorinated water from the mains supply. We like to acheive a PH of 6.5 - 7.0 for the breeders and then raise the PH gradually to that of the incoming supply which is usually at a PH of about 8.0 which is fine for the fry as they grow.
10% of each aquarium for the breeding pairs , but 10% every other day is required for fry as they need it for optimal growth.
