You have a Cymbidium but it won't flower?
You want to grow orchids but don't know how?

WE HAVE THE ANSWERS!

Come along to one of our meetings and find out about us.

The Bournemouth Orchid Society was founded to promote and encourage all aspects of "Orchidology" and the growing of orchids in particular.

It meets at the home of the Bournemouth Natural Science Society at 7:30pm on the last Friday of each month, except February and September when the Annual Spring and Autumn Shows are held (open to the public), or when social events and outings are arranged during the summer. The Membership Card, issued when subscriptions are paid for the coming year, gives full programme details.

Our "season" runs throughout the year, with normal meetings each month, except February and September (Society Shows) and July (Garden Party).

We organise coach visits to Orchid Nurseries and Shows.

We have a reputation for the high quality of displays of members' plants at local, national and international shows - RHS Silver Flora Medal winner in 1985 and 1991, and Silver Medal winner at the 1993 World Orchid Congress.

We maintain an extensive library of Orchid books and periodicals that are available at all normal meetings. They are also available to borrow between meetings at a nominal fee.

Advice on orchid culture is always available from our more experienced members, several of whom have received RHS Cultural Commendations.

Nursery visits are organised for Members, as is the display of Members' plants at local and national shows.

A library of Orchid Books and Periodicals is available at all meetings. These may be borrowed between meetings for a nominal monthly charge.

The meetings feature:

·         Visiting speakers - amateur and professional growers, botanists, etc., including nationally and internationally recognised experts.

·         Table Show and Monthly Points Competition for Members' orchids.

·         Sale of Members' and visiting speakers' plants.

The Society produces a Quarterly Newsletter, and meets at:
