Arlong watched Nami move through the passageways of Arlong Park like a brightly-coloured guppy, flashing here and there before she came to rest in her map room.

He sniffed, tasting her desperation in the air like blood in the water. Soon she would think she had the money she needed to buy her village's freedom. Soon he would take it away from her.

The day would come when she would finally stop fighting him, when she would willingly count herself in his crew.

He'd be kind to her. He was the sort of captain who protected his people, after all.
