He would never actually say it out loud, but deep down he was quite certain that every family was a nest of vipers, with brothers who tortured you, a mother who wouldn't protect you, a father who only let you run so that you could find out how short your leash was, and a grandfather who wound his fingers through the house like poisoned roots.
Even after meeting other people, on seeing Gon's own family, he still expects that something's hidden, a skull beneath the skin. Something not shown to guests.
He doesn't believe in happy endings. Or happy families.
