A little about myself
RAVES:
some of my personal preferences, for whatever reason...
Favourite foods Ma’s home cooking, including the finest curd pie, lemon merinque, Yorkshire Puddings (genuine) with British Beef, Pineapple Custard. I’m a notorious biscuit snaffler, and I have a penchant for white chocolate.
Music depends on my mood. Anything from Will Smith, Lightning Seeds, Lighthouse Family, Republika, Corrs, Paul Weller & The Jam, The Stranglers, Kraftwerk, and Sex Pistols through to D-Ream, M People, Pet Shop Boys, ABC, even SClub7...
Favourite TV I like scientific documentaries, and time permitting will catch up on VH-1 or CNN News. I'll watch the odd film or video when I've time. Sky satellite TV provides a welcome addition, especially Discovery, CNBC and CNN News.
Computer Hardware - I usually go for Dell and HP, but one Dell PC (“The Beast”) was incredibly troublesome. Dell support ranged from 'trying' to aggressive and bad tempered (and incompetent). HP experiences have been very mixed indeed. My HP CD writer was faulty, and my new HP 6110C drove me mad with lockups and document feeder misses, had to be replaced under warranty -- with an HP refurb that's noisy and clatters a lot. My HP Scanjet 4 failed after 18 months, an £800 write-off. My HP 6250C scanner/ ADF was also poor and is shoved in the attic. My HP laptop tends to lock up (? temperature) and is unreliable. They slow down even more once you install the software bundle (eg CD writer). I'm not impressed with HP. Microtek support said 'the software they supplied with the 8700 never was much good' - not what I want to hear after spending £800 on a scanner. The only completely trouble-free kit I have ever bought has been an Iiyama monitor actually.
