| RANTS: the following things bug me at the moment... | |||||||||||
| Motoring - UK petrol prices at 0.85p/ litre ($6+ a gallon) are now a
national scandal, so is our bus and railway network. We pay amongst the worlds highest fuel
prices, and we are fleeced on car purchase tax, parking, road fund licences, VAT and poor roads.
All we get is a disintegrated transport policy. Take a look at Sweden to see how it's
done. Computer Retailers - any that employ sales staff who know nothing about their merchandise (I loathe off-hand or insolent service too). I have first-hand experience of sales assistants who just bluff their way through a sale: I have overheard many more instances of the same. There should be a compulsory NVQ in computer system retailing, to help stop the public from being misled by untrained commission-led floor staff. Maplin - a special mention for abandoning the electronics hobbyist press that fuelled them in the first place. A certain home electronics retail chain - for knowing nothing about products until it comes to selling a warranty (on digicams: Those LCDs are fragile you know... could crack at any time... Oh youre a gambler then....). Or, What if you drop this VCR in the car park? From my first-hand experience, the way in which store staff prey on ignorant peoples fears in order to sell warranties is scandalous. Anyone who says that something is top or pants. Recycling - the UKs progress, compared with the USA, Holland or Germany, towards sorting scrap waste for recycling is lamentable. Consumers should be made legally responsible for sorting their waste ready for re-processing. Back to About Me |
