A little about myself
Bio (the bit I’m prepared to tell you about)
I was born in the Ridings of Yorkshire in Oct. 1958 into an RAF family. I eventually settled at Brigg, Lincoln where, after leaving Brigg Grammar School in 1976, I graduated in the “University of Life (Hons.)”. I embarked on a promising career in accountancy before going into industry in 1979. I have subsequently held responsible posts in a variety of industries including engineering, electronics, horticulture and chemicals, and have written for Everyday Electronics (now EPE) since 1978. I turned freelance in 1998.

I have acquired an unparalleled mix of experience and industry-savvy within all aspects of manufacturing industry, management and commerce. This includes specialised consumer product and packaging development; ISO9000 Quality Management; sales admin. at international level; product development in electronics and other industries; purchasing and sourcing of raw materials, parts and services; marketing, advertising and copy writing for catalogues and marketing campaigns. Not forgetting catalogue design and exhibition preparation; finance, budgeting, accounting, import/ export. Career highlights include securing HM Gov’t backing to sue the Dutch Government in the European Court over a trade border dispute.

I guess I would describe myself as dedicated, professional, highly resourceful and resilient, commercially experienced and aware, and self-trained in PC hardware and software, design and graphics and with a keen eye for detail. Interests include technical photography, using both halide and digital techniques. A firm non-smoker, I enjoy good food and don’t feel at all guilty about enjoying the odd drink. A friend (I think) describes me as “half man, half beast, half wit.”
